Facts about Smart Meter Radiation Danger
There is a great deal of research that’s been done on the kind of radiation Smart Meters emit—and much of it is scary.
Radiation linked to Numerous Health Issues
One comprehensive report is the Bioinitiative Report 2012. Written by 29 independent scientists, researchers, and health policy professionals from 10 different countries, this 650-page report citing more than 1800 recent studies documents clear evidence that numerous health issues, including DNA breakage and risk of cancer, are created by exposure to radiation from cell phones, cell towers, power lines and Wi-Fi.
Smart Meters Often Don’t Comply with FCC Standards
An independent research team, Sage Associates, published a report entitled “Assessment of Radiofrequency Microwave Radiation Emissions from Smart Meters”. The conclusions of the research team include the fact that smart meters often may not even comply with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) safety standards—which, in themselves are insufficient for measuring radiation levels in smart meters.
Set back in 1996, FCC standards were based on studies with healthy 6’2”, 220 lbs men exposed for short periods of time–very different from the situation with smart meters, in which women, children and people in fragile health are continuously exposed to the radiation, often from more than one smart meter.
Furthermore, the regulations only tested for thermal damage—and the health risks researchers are finding are from non-thermal effects. Also, other sources of radiation (such as Wi-Fi, cell phones, and other wireless devices, all present in today’s homes) were not present in the testing. For all these reasons, the report strongly cautions that smart meters are not safe.
Organizations Cautioning about Radiation Health Risks
A number of organizations have also given strong cautions about all technology that emit radiation similar to that of smart meters, including the Council of Europe, the European Environment Agency, UK Trades Union Congress, the International Commission for Electromagnetic Safety, and the Russian Commission for Electromagnetic Safety.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Toxicology Program have also studied the effects of non-thermal radiation on human health. Their updated results are that, among other things, radiation can significantly increase the risk of glioma, a deadly brain tumor. They have classified RF as a possible carcinogen, same as lead and DDT.
Most recently, citing the scientific literature on the subject, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) has recently called for an immediate moratorium on installing smart meters due to radiation health risks.

Why a Metal Smart Meter Guard Won’t Protect You
There are a number of Smart Meter Guards on the market—usually a cup-like device to fit over the meter—that look simple and logical for blocking the radiation of a Smart Meter. The second method involved the use of a Heart Variability Meter, which measures the state of stress on the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. As shown in the diagrams below, the fluorescent light bulb put the subject into an unbalanced state of sympathetic nervous system dominance.
When the third plug of the Home EMF Protection System was plugged in, the subject was moved dramatically up into the normal range, far above the original state before the fluorescent light bulb was introduced.
