Research on Alzheimer’s and EMFs
Much research on Alzheimer’s and EMFs has been conducted, leading scientists to see a clear link between them.
An early report in 1997 by Chicago-based doctors Eugene Sobel and Zoreh Davanipour concluded that there is strong epidemiological evidence that “long term exposure [of EMFs] likely leads to Alzheimer’s.”

Power Lines and Alzheimer’s
Living near power lines, in particular, seems to put people at risk for Alzheimer’s. A compelling study in 2008 led by Anke Huss at the University of Bern reported that “people living within 50 meters of a high voltage power lines were more likely to die with Alzheimer’s. The longer they lived near a 220-380 kV power line, the greater the risk.”
Occupational Links to Alzheimer’s
Other studies have concluded that people working in locations with high-EMF exposure are also at high risk in developing Alzheimer’s. In 2007, Dr. Ana Garcia of the University of Valencia, Spain conducted a meta-analysis of studies done on occupational links to Alzheimer’s. She reported that the combined data from 14 different occupational studies have shown that being exposed to EMFs on the job doubled the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
Cell Phones and Alzheimer’s
A number of studies have been done to date linking cell phones with a variety of serious health risks. The link to Alzheimer’s in particular has been studied by oncologist, Leif Salford of Lund University in Sweden. After on-going studies on the subject over the years, he concludes that radiation from mobile phone handsets damages areas of the brain associated with learning, memory and movement and may trigger Alzheimer’s disease.
